bee movie

not for class, but i've been using skills i've been learning in class to start filming and putting little how to films together.   this is the first one.  i'm looking forward to when i can look back and laugh at this.  this was done in imovie, which while pretty easy to use, has some serious limitations that i'm quickly becoming frustrated with.  any recommendations for improvements are very welcome.

First Writing Prompt

As part of developing our major media project, we have been asked to make answers to weekly writing prompts.  This is the first.

What is your vision statement for your major project?

To create movement in Detroit's food system though highlighting local heroes in our food system and mobilize citizens to action to create a just food system for all.
What ideas do you have for your major project?

A series of short films highlighting our local food heroes, as well as highlighting ways that folks can become involved.  Also looking for ways to present the information - screenings, online hosting, discussion groups etc.  long term teaching others to make their own media and a website in which folks can post.
What are you planning to investigate and how does it support your vision of Detroit’s Future?

A few folks that I would like to talk with include - Edith Floyd, Mark Covington, Wayne and Myrtle Curtis, some of the people in Brightmoor, I'd like to dig deeper and think of other people that maybe have not been highlighted in media or are not as well know - looking at some of the older gardeners - whose voices may be lost.

What media skills do you need/want for to complete your major project?

Learning how to identify stories - learning how to interview folks - how to record audio and/or video - how to edit and publish media - how to promote the media - how to connect the media to movement - how to utilize media for movement building - and helping folks to take action.
